Dental implants are a great alternative for natural teeth replacement. A strong and stable dental implant can restore a lost tooth and can look, feel, fit and function like a natural tooth when implanted by our dentist at Bell Tower Dental Care.
Dental implants are built to last. They provide an ideal long-term and cost-effective option when in need of dental replacement. Traditional, tooth-supported dental bridges only last five to seven years, and with proper care often more than 10 years, but at some point, they may need to be replaced. Those costs can really add up over time. While dental implants may need periodic adjustments, they can last a lifetime when properly placed and maintained.
This type of teeth replacement treatment allows you to maintain the natural shape of your face and smile. In addition, implants protect your jawbones. Leaving empty spaces in your mouth after losing one or more teeth can lead to additional health issues, such as the loss and deterioration of some of your jawbone. Dental implants help preserve your natural bone.
Unlike removable dentures, dental implants are placed in your mouth and do not need to be removed for maintenance. You may brush, floss and care for teeth that have been replaced using dental implants exactly the way you would natural teeth – in your mouth. These implants function like natural teeth.
You can also bite naturally and eat virtually anything you want with dental implants. Unlike removable dentures that can feel uncomfortable, you can experience the full taste of the food you eat with dental implants. The implants are fixed in place and fuse naturally with your jawbone, meaning your replacement teeth won't move, click or shift. Since the implants go in the jawbone where your missing tooth root was, your healthy teeth will not be damaged or shift into the empty spaces next to them.
Lastly, dental implants treatment has a track record of reliable, long-term successful outcomes and is often considered more reliable than other treatments to repair or replace missing teeth, including bridgework, removable appliances, and retreatment of failing root canal therapy.

Individual Upper Implants
A dental implant is a titanium post (like a tooth root) that is surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath the gum line that allows your dentist to mount a replacement tooth into that area. If you're considering implants, you must have healthy gums and adequate bone to support them.
If you're missing your upper teeth, having all of them individually replaced so that they will appear to be growing out of your gum tissue will most closely resemble the appearance of your natural teeth. Because the bone in the upper jaw is not as hard as the one in the lower jaw, people often need more implants, usually 8 to 10, to support their new replacement teeth. Separate abutments or support posts for each one of these implants will be made and crowns for each missing tooth will be placed.
Tooth implants are typically more expensive than more traditional alternatives. If you're interested in individual implants, consult with your dentist at Bell Tower Dental Care. Schedule an appointment by calling us at 239-332-5660.
